The name of the programme means pro archipelago and it was founded by the different parties concerned about the weak state of the Archipelago Sea. The objective of the programme is improving the state of the water and the coastal area of the Archipelago Sea. Within the programme, many measures are made covering all the areas of the society. The steering group of the programme includes representatives from the large companies as well as from the non-governmental organisations. Back to the nature

If you are not afraid of the ticks or the gorgeous landscapes, turn your nose towards the archipelago. The national park of the Southern Archipelago is a good place for an excursion, with nature trails and camping areas. Before you go, it is reasonable to get acquainted with the operations, regulations and restriction of the national park. You might want to find out for example the meaning of the national park. Information is available in Sinisimpukka (blue mussel) nature centre and in the internet page Outdoors.fi. Fresh air evasive people can enjoy nature for example by making a virtual boat trip offered by the Finnish Maritime Administration.

Voluntary work on offer

Are you familiar with the scythe, do you know which way around to hold a rake? If one of the answers is yes, you have the making of the volunteer for a tradition rural landscape-camp. In a scythe and a rake hides the salvation of the endangered species. Volunteer camps are organised for example by the archipelago nature school and WWF.

Volunteer oil spill preparation troops

The Baltic Sea is one of the concerns of the WWF. Besides trying to influence on decision-makers for saving the sea, WWF offers the ordinary citizens many ways to participate. WWF´s mermaid- programme for example is concentrated on the prevention of eutrophication, oil destruction measures and the conservation of the endangered species. WWF also consults how every one of us can live and spare the environment.  In Finland operate also the volunteer oil spill preparation troops.
