All our actions affect the environment. Unfortunately we on the whole are not acting very sustainable way and are making choices in our daily life which are not environmental friendly. We consume, pollute and waste water and energy without even thinking about. Consequences can be seen as environmental problems like eutrophication and chemicalisation of the seas.The most practical way to influence on the state of the seas and the environment is to examine our own consuming habits. If they are harmful, we should try to change them.

Ecological footprint has been developed to describe how much productive land is used for all the products and services we are consuming and for the relocation of waste.
With the ecological footprint you can examine weather your consumption is in sustainable balance with the disposable natural resources.
How heavy pack can you carry?
Other instrument for evaluating the environmental impacts of the consumption is the ecological back-pack. The more natural resources are used to the production, use and waste management of the product or service, the heavier it becomes. For example, the ecological back-pack for the pair of jeans can be even 10 000 kilos. Be eco-efficient!
Ecological efficiency means the way to get from fewer amounts of raw material and energy more products, services and prosperity. You can improve your own eco-efficiency with for example reasonable consumption, integrated use and replacing goods with services. Eco-Benchmark
