From Kyoto to Finland Proper -project
The project is part of the Finnish Climate Change Communications Programme, "Ilmastonmuutos.info". The other projects partners are: Turku University of Applied Sciences, Efeko Ltd, Motiva Oy, Ministry of the Environment, The Energy Agency of Southwest Finland and YLE (Finland's national public service broadcasting company).
The project produces internet based study material for secondary and higher education students with the help of the students of Turku University of Applied Science´s Sustainable Development degree programme. The project will also produce an operations model for higher education institutions to communicate local climate change action.
The objectives:
To introduce a regional and local perspective into a global problem in a new way. To produce nationally relevant internet study material on climate change (its effects, slowing climate change and climate change adaptation) for students in secondary and tertiary (i.e. higher) education. To teach polytechnic studenst climate change communication.
Project plan:
The students of Turku University of Applied Sciences will be offered a lecture- and practical study series that will teach climate change communication. The students will produce different types of multimedia study material with the help of local experts.
The multimedia presentations and a model of the project will be available as a study material at YLE's website. The study material was published at a climate change seminar on the 10th of September 2005. During spring 2008 the pages were transferred to these new "Green Path" -webpages.
The project will result a model that can be used to implement similar local climate change projects in Finland.
