Argentina must improve the system of education. Sebastian Ortega Galli thinks that this is the only possible way to the sustainable future for his country. He would also like to have more control over social and environmental impacts of different projects in Argentina.

Sebastian Ortega has studied 10 months in Turku polytechnic's program of sustainable development. Now it was time to go home and we were remembering experiences of the past year. I also wanted to know the ideas Ortega had about his country and sustainable development.

- We in Argentina are lacking some willingness and visions you have here in Finland. If we only could make our school system better, it would lead to cumulation of information in the whole country, explains Ortega.

He thinks that the most difficult obstacles to progress are often made in our minds. For example we aren't thinking enough how the disabled people can move around in our cities. All the problems should first to be recognized and then arranged.

- One of the most interesting courses here in Turku was Design for all, because it really opened my mind to see that our cities aren't build for all. I didn't used to think much about these questions before, says Sebastian.

Ortega sees that in his country there could also be more control over impacts of different projects. He would like to see that also in Argentina officials would study more of consequences of projects to local people and society. A bit like in Finland and other countries of European Union.

The year of independence

Sebastian has liked a lot to live in Finland. The best thing was that he got first time in his life to live by himself. He was able to arrange whole life like he wanted to. Now he is a bit worried how to get to used to live whit his parents and their control again.

The time in the North went really fine. Sebastian was especially pleased with willingness of the Finnish people to help strangers.

- In many other countries people get scared when tourist tries to ask something, but here every body were ready to help me with my problems. They even tried to remember all the words they knew in Spanish, laughs Ortega.

When I ask if he would like to come back to Finland some day the answer is ready.

- Absolutely! I would love to come back, especially for the winter. I just loved all that frost ad snow!
